What Amazon's image guide says
Amazon's Product image guide for the United States accepts JPEG, TIFF, PNG and non-animated GIF files, and recommends JPEG. Images must be at least 500 pixels and at most 10,000 pixels on the longest side. Amazon recommends 1,000 pixels or more, because images of that size enable the zoom function. The colour mode should be RGB and the resolution at least 72 dpi.
The main image must show the product on a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), with the product filling 85 percent of the image and fully inside the frame. Other marketplaces and categories can differ, so check the guide for your own store.
How to prepare an Amazon image
- 1Start with a clean shot. Photograph the product on a plain, light background so that the product fills most of the frame.
- 2Add your photos. Drag in JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC files, as many as you like.
- 3Keep the preset. Each picture is placed on a pure white square, 2000 pixels by default. That is above the 1,000 pixel zoom threshold and well under the 10,000 pixel limit. You can change the side length.
- 4Export as JPG at 90 percent. Amazon recommends JPEG, and this keeps files light without visible loss.
- 5Download and upload. Name each file as Amazon asks, for example with the product identifier and the MAIN variant code.
What this tool does not do for you
A white canvas does not make a photo compliant. The tool cannot make the product fill 85 percent of the frame, remove a coloured or shadowed background, or check the pictures against your category rules. Amazon also does not allow text, logos, badges or claims such as free shipping on product images, so this page does not add any. It does not rename files either, so use Amazon's naming pattern when you upload.
Notes and limits
We checked Amazon's guide for the United States on 10 October 2026. Other countries and categories have their own requirements, and Amazon updates them from time to time. Always confirm the current rules in Seller Central before you upload a batch.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to your server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device. Your files are never sent to us or to any third party, which is why it also works for private photos and large batches. Once the page has finished loading you can even switch off your internet connection and the tool keeps working.
What image size does Amazon require?
At least 500 pixels and at most 10,000 pixels on the longest side. Amazon recommends 1,000 pixels or more so customers can zoom, and this tool defaults to 2000 × 2000.
Does Amazon require a white background?
For the main image, yes: a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255). This tool fills the extra space with pure white, but it cannot clean up a background that is not already plain.
Which file format should I use?
Amazon accepts JPEG, TIFF, PNG and non-animated GIF, and recommends JPEG. The preset exports JPG at 90 percent quality.
Does the tool rename my files?
No. Amazon expects the product identifier plus a variant code, such as B000123456.MAIN.jpg. Rename the downloaded files yourself before uploading.
